How is this score determined?

DHA is certainly a valuable omega-3 fatty acid, but for general supplementation a product that provides both EPA and DHA is preferred. In addition, the total dosage is relatively limited. That's why this scores lower than the other algae oil products.
What is this useful for?
Omega-3 (EPA and DHA) is one of the few supplements that genuinely adds something for many people: it is useful in a broad sense, especially if you eat little oily fish. If you already eat oily fish twice a week or more, the added value is limited, although extra EPA and DHA won't do any harm even then. When choosing, the amount of EPA and DHA per day matters most: 500 to 1000 mg is adequate for general supplementation, from around 1000 mg excellent. Above 2000 mg per day, caution applies instead: the risk of blood clotting problems and heart rhythm disorders may then increase slightly. (Review: Android Health Clinic.)
